Difficulty in Tekken 5 is way uneven

Post by Tekkenplaya on Mon Feb 08, 2010 8:53 pm

Love this game, but got to say there is so much inconsistency. Now I'm playing as Devil Jin on medium, story mode. I'm a reasonably decent player and I can usually get through medium with no problem until Jinpachi starts cheating his way through the last match. Anyway. Now as Devil Jin, my fourth match is against Law and he's just destroyed me three times in a row, with two perfect rounds. It's almost like the program is reading my controller commands and automatically countering.

Anyone else get this? Now and then you get an opponent who plays iike a Tekken God in arcade mode when you're playing story mode on a not-very-tough setting?

Weeeeird.

Edit : Now it's five times in a row and it's getting worse. Law is literally playing like an unbeatable character. Blocks 9 out of 10 attacks and hits with 10 out of 10 of his own. This is really strange.

Final edit: Beat him, but it took eight attempts. That can't be right.

The computer does actually read your moves, it even notes what you do in previous matches to counter it!

The computer is very cheap like that but it has no real strategy so its okay
And Glad you finally beat him!

Yeah, of course it has to read your moves or you'd beat everyone! But I've beaten story mode with most of the characters and other than Jinpachi The Cheat Evil or Very Mad I' ve never had to fight anyone eight times while getting caned. That's why I thought it was weird.

This is how A.I. in fighting games work. You better get used to it or switch A.I. to human players.

There's one bright side on A.I. - If you manage to exploit something the A.I. eats every time, feel free to abuse it to the end of the world. Because they will eat it every time.

I do find all the difficulties on 5/DR quite is easy to beat. However, Tekken 6's ultra hard difficulty is really challenging.

Now that you mentioned it... I think Tekken 6's A.I. is like invincible mode at first (it might beat you 3-0) and after you retry (with the same character most likely), it's completely vice versa. The A.I. eats even the stupid launchers like it was first time seeing it. This is not how A.I. in fighting games should work.
