Re: A Nintendo Thread
Uh... yeah. Is there something bad about the GameCube version? I bet I could get more precise shots with button presses than with stupid motion sensing trash. I mean, I swing the Wii Remote sideways, and I didn't get the shot I was supposed to get(a green lined shot). Instead, my character just did a slam.kazamafan15 wrote:Gamecube version? oh man
Re: A Nintendo Thread
nah there is nothing bad I just don't wouldn't like having 3 versions of the same game
Re: A Nintendo Thread
If there's a remake which includes senseless swinging of a game that was originally based on button presses, would you get it? (Sounds attracting, doesn't it? ) I would go for GameCube original, but I couldn't find it anywhere.kazamafan15 wrote:nah there is nothing bad I just don't wouldn't like having 3 versions of the same game
Re: A Nintendo Thread
Seeing how good the game is by content, the original GameCube version gotta kick a**! I mean, it's GameCube after all.kazamafan15 wrote:depends is it a awesome one
Re: A Nintendo Thread
It definetly should have. But I guess the mini disc format kept most of developers from doing any games for GameCube. But it's not like it didn't get any crappy games, no, no...kazamafan15 wrote:lol Gamecube should have gotten more respect
Re: A Nintendo Thread
was the gamecube more powerfull then Xbox?
The gamecube graphics were mostly better but the PS2 version mostly got extra content

Re: A Nintendo Thread
Not to my knowledge. XBox was probably the most powerful console out of the three consoles in the previous gen(PS2/XBox/GCN).kazamafan15 wrote:was the gamecube more powerfull then Xbox?
You're talking about the original Metroid Prime on GameCube? Yeah... looks sweet... Nintendo has and will always have an advantage in making games, because Nintendo 64, GameCube, DS.... Wii... they're making their games for their consoles. They obviously know their hardware and what it's capable of, thus can bring out the most from Wii(see Super Mario Galaxy) and any other consoles they have made games for. No wonder 3rd party titles are mostly garbage on Wii(because they're mostly ports). Maybe game developers should focus a great game exclusivily for Wii only and they would probably understand wii's capabilities. Or play Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime.kazamafan15 wrote:The gamecube graphics were mostly better but the PS2 version mostly got extra content
The mini-disc GameCube used had pretty much limited capacity(about 2 giga bytes?), while the DVD roms had probably over 4 giga bytes, which allowed developers to focus on more content and grapichs and so on. GameCube is still a great console despite that. If Nintendo were to re-release some of their GameCube titles... And some GameCube stuff... I'd be happy to support Nintendo with my money.
Re: A Nintendo Thread
No I was talking about RE4
The Gamecube version only got The Mercenaries as extra mode but the PS2 got two more.
for everyone who was wondering.

You should've mentioned the Resident Evil 4 in the first place then... I guess.kazamafan15 wrote:No I was talking about RE4Muggshotter wrote:You're talking about the original Metroid Prime on GameCube? Yeah... looks sweet...

Yea, Nintendo's great.
Re: A Nintendo Thread
I know the PS2 is less powerfull but eh it could surely handle the Gamecube graphics from RE4
Re: A Nintendo Thread
I feel like getting getting some hardware/accessories for my GameCube.
Yesterday I bought this:
... and this:
I was just looking around in a gaming shop and... came across a Jet Black GameCube controller. However, I felt like getting a scart cables for my Pearl White GameCube as well because the original one produced no longer sound(which is annoying). This one is a Universal scart that goes to PS2,XBox or/and GameCube. The price of the black GCN controller and the scart would have cost me 58 euros, when I only had 53 €. I'll get the black controller this Friday. Then I'll have four GameCube controllers, and... Maybe a second memory card would be good? Another Mad Catz memory card. Now I have my original GameCube humming again....
Resident Evil 4 was a GameCube exclusive back then. Am I right?

So the PS2 version was shown first and the GCN version after the PS2 version? Hmm....kazamafan15 wrote:

Re: A Nintendo Thread
Yes that's right RE4 was meant to be exclusive to the Gamecube but since the PS2 sold so much more Capcom decided to bring it also on the PS2 (fast)
from there the crappy port

Yesterday I decided to after a gooooddd break play Super Mario Sunshine.
There's one Star Shine Episode that has always bugged me... I've never managed to complete it... until I saw this:
F***! Who would've thought this Star Shine Episode would've been so EASY?! MAN I feel so dumb now.

Hmm....kazamafan15 wrote:
is Super Mario 64 for the DS a good one?
The DS version has three more playable characters besides Mario(Yoshi, Wario and LUIGI!), 30 more stars(150 Stars, while the N64 had only 120 Stars!) to collect, mini-games... wireless Multiplayer(which I'll come to later on this post)... and... it's just about more-everything kind of a game. I mean, it's a remake of the original N64 version after all.
It should be obvious the grapichs are better(the textures are pretty good in my opinion).
You can move with the D-Pad or with the Touch Screen by using the Stylus. It acts like an Analog stick, except it has more learning curve, but still pretty DAMN sensitive. It's definetly useful if you manage to learn it. I never really used the Touch Screen for movement, I sticked for the D-pad. There are small points where you can touch to rotate the camera left or right. The Touch Screen also acts like a map, which shows you stuff like the Stars and Transformation Caps.
Speaking of which, at the beginning of the story, Mario, Luigi and Wario gets an invitation from Princess Peach. "She has baked a cake for them". Hours go and go... and they never returned. Lakitu wakes up Yoshi to tell the three never got back from the castle. Now Yoshi needs to save Mario, Luigi and Wario from the paintings in which Bowser has prisoned them. There are times when you would need some Mario wall jumps, Wario's super strenght or Luigi's ability to go through certain ceilings and the Transformation Caps are perfect for those situations IF you are using Yoshi. With Yoshi, if you can manage to capture a Mario/Wario/Luigi cap, you'll transform into the character whom cap you took. Like if you took a Mario cap, you'll transform into Mario and so on. (But you'll still have the Yoshi sounds. =3)
I'll go back into the controls for a second. You can set either a left or right handed mode, so it doesn't really matter what handed you are, the game has got you covered.
I told about Minigames earlier. There are Rabbits scattered around the castle and the castle grounds. Mario, Luigi, Wario and Yoshi have their own minigames, so everytime you grab a Rabbit no matter with what character, you'll definetly get a different minigame every time. Of course, if you have captured a same Rabbit before... Then you'll receive nothing.
"What if I'll try the same spot with every character?" That's what you'll probably now think, but it doesn't work. Not at least with all four characters, I suppose.
I also got to say Mario, Luigi and Wario got prisoned in paintings. You must find the paintings, one way or the other. The Mario one can be founded easily, but finding Luigi and Wario can be a LOT more tough. Everytime you go to a Mario/Luigi/Wario painting, you have to beat a Boss at the end.
Now, I'll tell something about the wireless Multiplayer. The Multiplayer's concept in this game is simple. Have more Stars than your friends by the end of the time limit. Simple, but fun. The game supports BOTH Download Play and Wireless Play, so whether there's only one copy or 2-4 copies of the game, everyone will get to have some fun. If the Download Play is in use, every player uses Yoshi.
Yoshi has an ability to swallow opponents and throw them. He cannot punch or kick them however, so he lacks direct attacks. He can get some extra height with his Flutter Jump(hold the Jump button). You might want to use the Ground Pound to deal with chaotic situations.
But if every participating player has a copy of the game, people get to choose between all four playable characters.
Now, as for Mario, he has his wall jumps and direct punches and stuff. Luigi has the direct attacks as well(along side Wario). Luigi can get some more hang time by holding down the jump button. He can also briefly run on the water surface. Pretty impressive for a plumber, huh? Try his back Somersault jump and you are BOUND to get some height, trust me. Wario has more strenght, and seems to be able to HURL his opponents. Yes, that's right, grab his opponents and throw like King! But he's the slowest out of the four, so you might want to stick with anyone else instead.
You may choose any field and every one of them are fairly big. And yes, you can play on the Peach's Castle Grounds. Stars keep coming as long as people manage to get them and until the time runs out. If you think your friends have more Stars than you have, try deliver a punch or two. It might help.
I have only got to play this Multiplayer via the Download Play and with another player(my sister...), so I would say have at least two friends to play with you, or the fields are too big and the game gets fairly boring pretty fast. Having four players is a mayhem, and that's how it's supposed to be played.
The same concept of the Multiplayer of this game returns in New Super Mario Bros., but the characters are reduced to Mario and Luigi, so it's 2-Player only AND 2D. Which one would you prefer?
So... I'll just conclude this.
If you have played the original Super Mario 64 through(all 120 Stars or not), then this game doesn't have really that much to offer, unless...
- Super Mario 64 is one of your top favourite games you've ever had and want it on the go
- You have never played the original one
- You want to play every version of the same game (Resident Evil 4, anyone?)
- Multiplayer and the minigames interest you(some Minigames return to New Super Mario Bros.)
- You just want to play it through
- You want to control Yoshi, Luigi and/or Wario
There's some stuff. I hope this helped if you're thinking about getting the game.
