Will New Players gain advantage over Veteran Players in Tekken 6 due to new features?
New features - Will veteran players be in disadvantegous position?
I've been thinking this for a while and decided to post this topic here.
It's been a while since the last King of Iron Fist Tournament occured. There was an updated version for the fifth tournament, which included three more competitors and revised stages and songs. But what about the sixth one?
Tekken 6 has several new features, Bound, Rage, Floor -and Wall breaks, not to forget Wall Slump. The question is, will the new playeres be in advantegous position and us, veteran players in disadvantegous position against those new players who are playing Tekken for their first time?
I don't mean those "very first match" things, but I'm particularly thinking about us, the veteran Tekken players who have been playing Tekken since(insert a Tekken here). Basically 95 % of combos today will have no use(or are weak) in Tekken 6, since we need to use the Bound feature to get the most out of our combos in Tekken 6. Those "new players", who haven't played any other Tekken before, will they be in advantegous position because they get to immidiately used to all new features, while the rest of us need to refine our tactics, which might take more time to do than new players get used to the new features since they haven't played a single Tekken game before this one.
Sure, the veteran players know already when to sweep, throw and make a launcher, but still, due to new features they need to think again what they will do.
This is just something I've been wondering, since Bound and Rage features particularly feel too casual. (My self proclaimed title, The Comeback Kid loses it's meaning after this feature! )
I've also been thinking about these new features tournament-wise, even though I have never been in a tournament before.
So what do you think?
And no, I haven't played Tekken 6 yet.

Hmm, I don't know... I think not. Maybe for the first time but after playing few matches they're just like same.

Oh... Forgot about X360 players...iceyou88 wrote:

But if you have got to experience DRO-noob-players. then you would worry too.
DRO noobs will most likely go to Tekken 6 online once the game is out, so... Prepare for Lili cartwheels and Law's sweep-somersaults again.

I think that we Tekken Vets still got the advantage b/c we can relearn the Tekken engine better VS someone who's never played Tekken b/4 and has to start from scratch. They gotta cram more in than we do. We atleast have an idea of our characters strengths, weakness', key moves and unless they drastically change them, command lists.

Re: New features - Will veteran players be in disadvantegous position?
Hmm ...I think no,but the Veteran characters - there are many characters...so there are strong and less strong characters...
Re: New features - Will veteran players be in disadvantegous position?
Mmm, that's one thing too. Mostly in fighting games Veteran characters get nerfed really bad, and new characters will shine as "the better ones". Say, Heihachi's Twin Pistons-move(df+1-2) doesn't launch anymore(or so I have heard). It has ALWAYS launched people in the air... until now. THAT is bull****. Any other bad nerfs? Well... Go take a look at yourself.KM_Lord wrote:Hmm ...I think no,but the Veteran characters
BUT, some veteran characters get buffed so badly, that they are one of the best characters in the game. What's the point to nerf to the bottom the well-doing characters(Kazuya, anyone?) and buff up the crappy characters to the top? It has no sense at all.
Plus, some characters who were already doing not so good, had to be even MORE NERFED. God damn...

well i did heard that hwoarang has new moves... soo at least for me is ok, but i do agree that is bad weakening some characters like heihachi to make a more balanced competition, oh i still remember how heihachi kicked a** in the original tekken, his juggles seemed endless
