should Namco make Tekken remakes for PSN?
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Yeah, Tekken Tag (Arcade) to PSN and I'm a happy man.
As for emulators, they are best used to re-live the very old classics that haven't been re-released yet, it's not directly illegal, I think.

The arcade version why? I'd rather have the PS2 version.Muggshotter wrote:Yeah, Tekken Tag (Arcade) to PSN and I'm a happy man.

and don't let the PAL version be so slow
or if Namco included Arcade music with PS2 music then I'd be very happy.
but how not directly illegal?
as far as I understand you, you mean it's not illegal when using an original game on an emulator
but if you use a file it is?
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Arcade version takes significantly less space, and it'd be much faster than the PAL PS2 version anyway.kazamafan15 wrote:

That's why. Of course, it could have polished graphics, but that's about it.
Then again, people don't expect massive HD-experiences off the PSN downloads (look at Megaman 9 and 10), so the Arcade version could work.
Well, let's say I have a PS1 emulator and a game Ehrgeiz for the emulator to run (downloaded off the net).kazamafan15 wrote:

It hasn't been even re-released as part of Platinum series and there's no signs for a PSN re-release as well.
Considering it is such a damn rare game to come by, is there any other options than PC emulators for playing the game?
Unless you have the original, physical copy of the game, no, I think there's not.
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
hmm but do you know the exact (memory) data file's for the PS2 and Arcade versions?
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Hey, I'm not a (Arcade) machine.kazamafan15 wrote:hmm but do you know the exact (memory) data file's for the PS2 and Arcade versions?
Buuut it should come as a no-brainer that the PS2 version takes (significantly) more space than the Arcade version, which only has the game, no additional modes, aside from the Pair Play possibility.

well a CD could have up to 700MB of storage
that's even less then a average PS3 demo and slightly higher then a PS1 game.

But still. Wouldn't an arcade machine with only "Arcade" or "Online" have less space than a PS2 with all of the game modes + arcade and/or Online?

At Arcades, it's just the game, most likely nothing else aside from Link Cable stuff (or if it's a 2-player single cabinet, then not).KazuyaFreak wrote:

Without it's additional content, Tekken at Arcades is left with the main game itself, along with customisations and ranks.
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
would be the question if someone would buy a fighting game with only Arcade and 2 player mode.
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Casual gamers (and semi pro-players who still think for great content), not.kazamafan15 wrote:would be the question if someone would buy a fighting game with only Arcade and 2 player mode.
Hardcore gamers, yes.
Sonic the Fighters got it's home console port in Sonic Gems Collection. It only has Arcade, Versus and Options. Not even Training mode.
Yup, Virtua Fighter 5 faced it's winner.
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Sega put hardly any effort in Virtua Fighter 5.
even less in the PS3 version.
this brings me back to the original Tekken.

You know King? From Tekken? Not much of a character.
Just a stereotypical masked wrestler.

Re: Tekken Remake(S)
remember it only has 18 characters compared to more then 30 in Soul Calibur and Tekken.Muggshotter wrote:But... but...kazamafan15 wrote:

You seem to REALLY enjoy fighting games with alot of characters.
I know of one with more than 70! That doesn't make it a better game. And I must bring it up again.
BlazBlue has 12 characters, and is a very good fighting game.

Re: Tekken Remake(S)
The original VF5, yes. But look at later updates, that include like three new characters.kazamafan15 wrote:remember it only has 18 characters compared to more then 30 in Soul Calibur and Tekken.Muggshotter wrote:But... but...kazamafan15 wrote:

That makes 21.
But it's not about the character count, it's the gameplay and the balance between the whole roster, whether it be 16 characters or 60 characters.

I enjoy fighting games better when they have lots of characters.
it kinda makes it a challenge to complete Story mode with all of them as fast as possible
Re: Tekken Remake(S)
Remake the old Tekkens? I don't really see the point. Older games in fighting game series usually don't receive remakes due to the fact that more often than not, fighting games are always a refinement after every installment. I could see maybe a remake (or HD upgrade) of Tekken 3 or Tag (since these two games are over ten years old and are still regarded by many as the best entries in the series). It would be a similar situation as when Capcom remade Street Fighter II Turbo in HD to build hype for Street Fighter IV.
Other than that, I don't see a point. Tekken 2 is already on PSN and Tekken 1 was inferior to 2 in every single way, so that would be pointless. Tekken 3 has oddly enough, yet to be re-released on its own. Maybe Namco does indeed have big plans for this game or maybe they just happen to like Tekken 2 a lot. XD
